MPO rolls open to non-Macedonians
The following article appeared in the January 2010 Edition of the Macedonian Tribune
The Macedonian Patriotic Organization takes another step in outreach.
After more than a year of deliberation, delegates to the 88th Annual MPO Convention voted overwhelmingly to open membership to non-Macedonians who support the MPO. It was the second vote at two consecutive conventions, required by the bylaws.
Leonard Plodzien, Seattle, became the first Associate member. He regularly attends MPO Conventions and dances to enjoy his great love – folk dancing.
Chapters all over the country now can welcome their supporters and friends to join the MPO.
Section III – OrganizationArticle 9 A single person, who does not meet the nationality requirements of Article 6, may join the local organization as an Associate Member. This membership will have no voting rights on any official MPO business at the local or international levels, nor a right to serve as a delegate at the annual convention. Voting rights are limited to local matters only. This membership does not apply to the number of local official members to determine the delegate number for the convention. Cost of this membership will be one-half (1/2) of a regular membership in the MPO, with one-half (1/2) of same going back to the Central Committee. |
