From Restaurant Kid To Feeding Kids, Mike Gouloff Makes an Impact
by, Lois Eubank...cont. from Page 1
In the past 19 years, USA Harvest redistributed more than 12.4 billion pounds of food nationally. Founder Stan Curtis, an orphan turned out of the orphanage at 18, grew up knowing what it was like to be truly hungry. From the pangs in his stomach grew a fire in his belly to make certain no one went hungry, especially children.
With eight Blessings in a Backpack programs in operation, USA Harvest plans to expand programs to every state. For more information on the program, go to www.blessingsinabackpack.com Mike enjoys spending time with his wife Gretchen and daughters Alexandra, 16 and Anya, 13.
His parents are Methodi (Ted) Gouloff and Olga (Pedroff) Gouloff. They met in Canton, Ohio, where Ted’s relatives, the Couzoffs, resided. Olga Pedroff was a close friend of the Couzoff cousins, and Ted corresponded with Olga while he was in the navy during WWII. They were married in Fort Wayne in 1946.
Mike’s paternal grandfather, Nicholas
“Nick” Gouloff immigrated from Oleeshta
and his paternal grandmother Anastasia
from Chereshnitza. Both villages are in
Kostursko, Aegean Macedoonia. Mike’s
maternal grandfather Mitcho Pedroff, of
Konomaladi immigrated in 1909. Stonia
(Evanov) Pedroff arrived from Drenoveny
and married Mitcho in 1922. They settled
in Canton.
